The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sasaram, under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹32,000 from a private vendor.
According to an official release, a case was registered by the CBI earlier today after receiving a complaint that the accused principal had demanded a bribe from a GEM-registered private supplier. The complainant, who is the proprietor of the business, had supplied goods to the school and was awaiting payment of a pending bill amounting to ₹1.92 lakh.
The principal allegedly demanded ₹32,000 as a bribe in return for releasing the outstanding payment. Following this, the CBI set a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant.
The arrested official is expected to be produced before the CBI Special Court on May 22, 2025. The agency has confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine if there are more individuals involved or if similar complaints have been made in the past.
The arrest has sparked concern over corruption in educational institutions, particularly those funded and operated by the central government. The CBI’s swift action sends a strong message about its ongoing crackdown on bribery and corruption in public services.
