Tata Power Soars with Strong Stock Performance and New Renewable Energy Project

On Monday, April 21, 2025, Tata Power’s shares opened 0.58% higher, priced at ₹393 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The stock has performed well recently, showing a 7% increase over the past week and more than 10% growth over the last two weeks. The announcement of a new wind-solar hybrid project in partnership with Tata Motors is also boosting investor confidence. With consistent financial performance and strong market momentum, Tata Power is positioned as a major player in the utilities and clean energy sector.

Tata Power’s Strong Performance and Upcoming Results

Currently, Tata Power’s share price stands at ₹393.10. Investors are eagerly awaiting the company’s Q4 and FY25 financial results, which are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, after market hours. This is a key event in the earnings season. Investors are also hopeful about a potential dividend, following last year’s ₹2 per share payout, which was made possible by strong Q4FY24 performance.

A Milestone in Solar Energy

In March 2025, Tata Power reached a major milestone by surpassing 150,000 rooftop solar installations across India. This accomplishment further establishes Tata Power as a leader in the renewable energy sector. The company’s growing presence in clean energy demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and its success in expanding its renewable energy offerings.

New Wind-Solar Hybrid Project with Tata Motors

A significant development for Tata Power is its continued focus on renewable energy. Its subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), has signed a deal with Tata Motors to co-develop a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. This project will supply clean energy to six of Tata Motors’ manufacturing plants in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The project is expected to generate around 300 million units of clean electricity every year and will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tonnes annually. This collaboration also supports Tata Motors’ goal of achieving 100% renewable energy usage ahead of its 2030 target. Developed through a co-investment model with a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), this hybrid project will provide reliable and affordable energy through a mix of solar, wind, floating solar, and battery storage.

Strengthening Tata Power’s Renewable Energy Portfolio

This new project takes Tata Power’s total group captive capacity to an impressive 1.5 GW. Currently, TPREL operates 478 MW under its group captive portfolio, with another 1.1 GW in development, set to be commissioned over the next two years. The addition of round-the-clock renewable energy will help industries achieve their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals and reduce energy costs. TPREL has already worked with other Tata Group companies like Tata Steel, Tata Communications, and IHCL to support the group’s transition to sustainable energy.

Tata Power’s Comprehensive Energy Portfolio

Tata Power has a robust energy portfolio of 15.6 GW, covering generation, transmission, distribution, trading, storage, and manufacturing of solar cells and modules. Out of this, 6.7 GW, or 43%, comes from clean energy sources. The company has set an ambitious goal to become carbon neutral by 2045. Today, Tata Power serves approximately 12.5 million customers across India.

Looking Ahead: Tata Power’s Bright Future

In conclusion, Tata Power is showing strong growth and a clear commitment to the renewable energy sector, highlighted by its partnership with Tata Motors. The positive market sentiment, anticipation of strong Q4FY25 results, and a possible dividend are all contributing to investor confidence in the company. With its focus on clean energy and its strategic developments, Tata Power remains a key player in India’s energy market, driving the country toward a sustainable energy future.
