The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two accused, including a Superintendent of CGST, Range-170, Nehru Place, New Delhi, and a private individual, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹13,000 from a complainant.

Case Details:

  • CBI registered the case on 28 March 2025 based on a complaint against the Superintendent of CGST, Nehru Place, New Delhi.
  • As per the complaint, the accused official demanded an 8-10% bribe from the complainant for processing a GST refund claim of ₹1,33,000.
  • After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept ₹13,000 to clear the refund.

CBI Operation & Arrests:

  • The CBI set a trap and caught the private individual red-handed while accepting the ₹13,000 bribe on behalf of the CGST official.
  • Both accused have been apprehended and are currently under investigation.
