The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Bhopal has taken decisive legal action by filing a Prosecution Complaint (PC) against Brij Maheshwari and others before the Special PMLA Court in Bhopal. The court formally took cognizance of the case on March 22, 2025, marking a significant development in this financial fraud investigation.

Case Background:
The ED’s probe stems from a CBI chargesheet involving alleged fraudulent activities by M/s Nava Bharat Press (Bhopal) Pvt Ltd and its directors. The company had secured credit facilities worth ₹15.67 crore from Bank of Maharashtra’s Gautam Nagar branch in 2004 for press modernization and machinery purchase.

Key Findings of Investigation:

  1. Fund Diversion: Instead of using the loan for intended purposes, the Maheshwari family allegedly channeled the funds through accounts of various companies controlled by Enbee Group employees.
  2. Personal Utilization: The diverted funds were used to settle corporate and personal liabilities, leading to the loan account turning into a Non-Performing Asset (NPA).
  3. Previous Actions: The ED had earlier attached 10 immovable properties worth ₹2.36 crore in Satna and Sehore (Madhya Pradesh) on March 30, 2024, which were subsequently confirmed by the PMLA Adjudicating Authority on September 10, 2024.

Current Status:
With the court now taking cognizance of the case, the legal proceedings will move forward to establish accountability for the alleged bank fraud. The ED continues its efforts to trace the complete money trail and identify all involved parties in this complex financial deception.

This case highlights the ED’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and protect the banking sector from fraudulent activities that undermine India’s financial system.
