Government Extends CGHS Facility to DANICS and AGMUT Pensioners

The Government of India has extended Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities to Central Civil Service pensioners under DANICS and similarly placed AGMUT cadre employees. This decision was announced by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare through an Office Memorandum dated January 9, 2026.

DANICS stands for the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Civil) Services. The AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre is a joint civil service cadre for IAS and IPS officers serving in specific Indian Union Territories and states, controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to Central Government employees, pensioners, and their dependents. It offers medical facilities through a wide network of wellness centers and empaneled hospitals, covering consultations, treatments, diagnostics, and medications, ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare.

What is the Decision?

After careful consideration, the competent authority has approved that Central Civil Service pensioners under DANICS, and Similarly placed AGMUT cadre employees will now be allowed to choose medical facilities either:

  1. From the State Government from which they retired, or
  2. Under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).

This option will be available at par with All India Services (AIS) pensioners and will be subject to the same terms and conditions.
